Manufacturers in many sectors of France's paper and board market have pulled out all the stops in their efforts to raise sales prices in the wake of high recovered paper and pulp costs. Consequently, prices moved higher in a few sectors in June against a backdrop of average to very strong demand. The fine paper business was among them, where prices for both uncoated and coated grades increased either at the start of the month or during the course of June. A similar picture has been painted of the kraftliner market: brown grades have been more expensive across the board since 1 June, with white-top kraftliner and semi-chemical fluting prices set to follow suit in July at the latest. With the market for ordinary recovered paper grades easing a little and prices falling as a result, recycled corrugated case material producers failed to institute the final instalment of the price increase that they had scheduled for June.
