Ahlstrom is continuing its rationalisation measures and has announced the beginning of another round of negotiations with worker representatives at the Karhula facility in Finland on 22 September 2009. As part of an action plan aimed at reducing the company's costs by €50m per year as from 2010, Ahlstrom is planning to cut 100 of a total of 360 jobs at the Finnish glass fibre tissue plant Karhula. Another 80 employees are to be laid off temporarily. Ahlstrom says its decision is due to the need to bring production capacity in the glass fibre tissue and specialty reinforcements segments into line with current demand.
