In the second half of November, the latest round of price negotiations for recycled packaging paper and board are still underway. A price increase of EUD20-30/t seems to be emerging for recycled corrugated case material. However, there are still market players around who have not paid more in November, who are still negotiating prices, and that have not yet agreed a concrete date for a rise. So far, higher prices for GD board have only been able to be pushed through in isolated cases. As major manufacturers in particular are exerting a great deal of pressure, and in view of cost increases and price cuts, however, the general assumption is that higher prices are going to become effective across the board at the outset of the new year. Observers expect that the pricing round in GC board - a third large-scale producer announced price increases last week - could also spur on the rise for GD. No price negotiations have taken place for newsprint yet. Manufacturers are planning to put prices up to at least EUD520/t for 45 g standard paper for 2005.
