The 5-year IGCP 521 project "Black Sea-Mediterranean Corridor during last 30 ky: Sea-level change and human adaptation" (Fig. 1) began on April 1, 2005 (Yanko-Hombach and Yilmaz, 2007). The development and dissemination of approaches and results from IGCP 521-INQUA 0501 research are achieved through annual Plenary Meetings associated with field work in the countries bordering the "Corridor", namely Turkey (Bosphorus-Marmara coast), Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey (Aegen coast) (Yanko-Hombach and Yilmaz, 2007) as well as various international, e.g. GSA (2007), EGU (2006), IGC (2008), and EMMM (2008) forums and associated publications in the conference volumes (Yanko-Hombach et al., 2005, 2006, 2007) and the First Special Volume of the journal Quaternary International (Yanko-Hombach and Yilmaz, Guest Editors, 2007).
