Iremember well the first time I saw a Focke-Wulf Fw 190; it was at London's Imperial War Museum, as a lad, where an A8 version hangs from the ceiling along with its two main WW2 adversaries, the Spitfire and Mustang. Equally well, I remember being amazed at what a compact little fighter it was, yet lethally armed with both cannon and machine guns. It was one of those aircraft that just looked right, and indeed nicknamed the 'Butcher Bird' it gave allied pilots a very hard time throughout the war in both its 'A' and later 'D' variants!
