Bom in 1913, Hedy Lamarr was an Austrian born actress contracted to the MGM studios during their 'Golden Age'. However, in contrast to the 'brainless bimbo' image often associated with Hollywood Starlets, she was a brilliant mathematician. And along with her co-inventor, avant-garde musician George Antheil, she is generally credited with having invented frequency-hopping spread spectrum radio.
