Further to the article about the Boeing P 26 documentation in the March Best in Scale column, I received an email and some photographs of a very nice model of this aircraft from Nick Kirk. The 1/4 scale model was built from drawings by designer, Dan Santich that came from the plans service of American magazine, Model Airplane News. At 1/4 scale, the wingspan is 86 inches with a chord of 18 inches. The model is of conventional built up balsa and ply construction finished off with glass cloth and epoxy resin. 'Fiber Glass Speciality' components for the ring cowl, spats and trousers were obtained from the USA. The model is finished in the colours of the 94th Pursuit Squadron using 'Warbird Colours' water-based paint. Rivets, panel lines, bumps and blisters were added before painting.
