Hpefully by now some of you may be at least a little familiar with the high speed world of FAI pylon racing, either by seeing (or hearing!) it for yourselves at the far end of the Barkston Heath runway during Nationals weekend, or from reading one of my earlier articles on the subject. To refresh the memory of those who are, or indeed to enlighten those who aren't, a brief overview of what's involved seems as good a place to start as any. Competition flights are contested over a triangular course, 400 metres round (180 metres to the top and 40 metres wide between the bases). In each heat a model must complete ten anti-clockwise laps of the course, giving a total race distance of 4 kilometres pole to pole.
