John Carpenter's new F4C class Comper Swift is based on the full size aircraft that resides at Old Warden, It is to 1 /3 scale, giving it a wingspan of 96 inches. It is powered by a Laser 180 four-stroke engine. Nicholas Comper designed the Comper CLA.7 Swift in 1929. Of wooden construction it had a folding wing mounted on top of the fuselage to give the pilot a good downward view. To improve the aircraft's performance when air-racing Comper fitted Pobjoy radial engines. G-ACTF was purchased by the Shuttleworth Collection in 1996 and made its first display appearance in 1997. During 1998 it was restored to original factory condition and is fitted with a 90 hp Pobjoy Niagra Ⅱ.
