It took all year but at last a competition and some good weather coincided, not just for one day but for an entire weekend! October 1 st and 2nd was the weekend in question with eSoaring on Saturday and F5J on Sunday. As it transpired they were the last two events of the season, others having to be cancelled due to bad weather - again! This is not a competition report but more of an analysis of the happenings on Saturday when no less than four models were either lost or damaged! This represented about 25% of the entry having model problems and not a single model came to grief on the field we were flying in! Furthermore, this level of loss and damage is way above any that I have experienced at any event in 2011. Most remarkable bearing in mind that the 2M eSoaring Nationals was held in near to 25 mph wind! So, what happened and what can we learn from it for the forthcoming flying season? So, in chronological order, it all started in round 2, with two 'occurrences'.
