Regular readers will know of my somewhat irregular reports of the BE.2c restoration at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire, which was initially constructed by David Boddington and his brother Charles in 1969 for the film 'Biggies Sweeps The Skies'. It was later sold in the USA, and in 1977 was badly damaged in a crash. It was then stored in an old barn until tracked down and recovered to the UK by Charles' son Matt Boddington and Steve Slater in 2005. Since then Matt and Steve have lovingly restored the aircraft to flying condition with help from Paul Ford. A little before 1800 hrs on the evening of Tuesday 10th May 2011, with a light breeze blowing right down the line of Sywell's grass runway, the conditions were perfect for the Biggies Biplane's first flight after the six year-long restoration.
