It has been a while (August 2010) since I first reviewed this electric-powered model from Art-Tech. At that time I praised it for being a good scale representation of the type with pleasant additional features such as the scale 3-blade prop, flaps, and a steering nose leg, not forgetting of course the LED landing and navigation lights. Since the review I have flown the model several times and have to say that it is very realistic in the air and a beauty to fly, but being of tricycle undercarriage it is limited to flying off the ground, however the Cessna 182 is also known as being a very popular floatplane, especially in Canada and New Zealand. Fortunately Art-Tech have realised this and presented the option for floats to be swapped over with the tricycle undercarriage to make it possible to fly off water if that's your preference. This is a superb option and will probably be quite popular as it seems that most water-planes are limited to Piper Cubs, one-off designs, or sport models on floats, and the poor little Cessna just doesn't get a look in! I received the optional float set from the UK distributor Century UK to evaluate and report my findings, and it goes something like this: Initially it looks like an easy fix, but close inspection reveals that this is not going to be a 30-minute change-over, so set aside a little time for this - a long evening should see it completed.
