The annual show at Weston Park has been a firm date on my calendar for more years than I can remember, flew there in the late 1970s (or was it the early '80s!), 1/2A and Club 20 pylon racers, considered state of the art then. Readers of a certain age might remember the Jim Davis Display Team rolling up with giant Spitfires powered by chainsaw motors. These models were the forerunners of the LMA-type models we enjoy now - we don't think twice now about building big models but back then anything powered by a Merco .61 was considered 'large'! Fast forward 30 years or so, and big models are the norm.
