The Paddock Wood Hop Farm near Tonbridge in Kent is a popular destination that many families will visit during the summer months for shows and events. The grounds are superb for these events, and facilitates camping and eat-ing-in, with the added attraction of the farm museum and 'kiddies corner' pet farm. For the past six years the Croydon Airport MFC has hosted a model show in September at this venue, and have been blessed every weekend with glorious summer sunshine even when the weeks prior to the show and afterwards have been wet or dull and cloudy. The organisers have no secret arrangement with the weather gods - it just turns out that way, and it seems that this is just one element that has made the show such a success and added attraction for families and model flyers from all over the South of England, from as far as Cornwall to the Midlands. With the weather on this mid-September weekend expected to probably be one of the hottest of the year, the organisers were disappointed to find that on arrival mid-week prior to the event that the flying field was flooded. However, this did not stop the determined club members to re-organise the layout of the show, and moved the traders to a 'trade village' on the grounds rather than on the soggy flight line.
