Anyone who read last month's column will probably have realised that almost every fly-in that I have attended last year (2008) has been plagued with high winds and some rain, so I have to say that it makes a very pleasant change to get out flying in good weather which we have been fortunate enough to enjoy these last few weekends. This season will not go down in history for being a particularly great one in terms of weather, but thank goodness the Autumn has given us some great flying days. One of those, for the weather at any rate, was the Saturday of one of my local club's barbeque. The weather was glorious and a good number of members attended, making the day a success. Unfortunately afterwards, it turned out that not everyone had enjoyed the day as much as they might have. It came to the attention of the committee that some of the fixed wing pilots were not happy flying at the same time as helicopters. This, as many will probably already know if they have been flying for some time, is a fairly common complaint in clubs where both disciplines are operated.
