In July last year I received a phone call from a local film company called Double Band. They had been informed that I built model aeroplanes and had received sponsorship from the BBC to make a documentary about Harry Ferguson's flying years. He is better known for his engineering genius and involvement with tractors, but he was the first man to build and fly his own aeroplane in the British Isles and made the first manned flight in Ireland. The centenary of this great achievement is in December of this year.
