The Beech Model 18 first took to the skies in 1937 and over 4000 were built in military variants for the USAAF with the US Navy having over 1500 of the type. Remaining in service with the USAAF until 1963, civil versions of the machine remained in production until 1969. The USAAF version was designated the C-45-H Expeditor, the model featured here in detail. The civilian version is the Beech D-18-5. Two Pratt and Whitney R-985-B radial engines powered the originals and the USAAF versions were used in a variety of roles, from transports to photoreconnaissance, scout trainers and bombardier trainers with a glazed nose, A truly versatile machine that had a total production run of 9000 in 32 variants.
