Almost thirty odd years ago my father took me to my first air show at RAF Finningley, which is now Robin Hood Airport. I was so amazed at the size and noise from the large powerful jets of the day - notably the Avro Vulcan bomber. I remember that fantastic sound reverberating in my stomach as the four Bristol Olympus engines roared into life and charged down the tarmac and into the air climbing almost vertically.
