Lithium Polymer battery technology seems to be advancing faster than any other cell type has ever done. I know from comments from many of you that some of you have been reluctant to use LiPo packs because you have heard so many scare stories. I have heard these too. I have questioned the 'victims' wherever possible and I do not think it reasonable to blame the cells. The majority have admitted liability - such as: the charger was set to charge a three series pack and a two series pack was connected, or the charger was set to a higher charge rate than the battery would accept, are common admissions. These are easily made errors, due to carelessness or distraction. Easily done - been there. It is too easy to get distracted and grab the wrong bits from a busy workbench. I have watched my own very expensive speed controller blow smoke rings whilst I was explaining something else to somebody as I plugged in the wrong cables. Distraction or confusion probably explains the rest of the failed battery packs. But this need not happen any more.
