Indoor and park flying is the latest growth area of this hobby and I must admit to becoming hooked in short order. I have flown a few of the Depron shock flyer designs that perform incredibly with their lightweight and flat plate aerofoils. The only downside I have found with Depron is its susceptibility to damage. A few poor arrivals soon has the Depron models looking tatty. A few more bumps and the air-frame is written off. As an alternative there is a range of models that are now produced in EPP, that''s the soft foam used by combat slope soarers and bouncing trainers. I spotted the Hacker Zoom Zoom 4D (ZZ4D) at a local model shop in a deal with a Vortex brushless outrunner motor and a Castle Creation speed controller for £99.95, just couldn''t resist. The ZZ4D is a profile model styled like a full sized aerobat and is available in three shocking colours. The fuselage and wings are cut from white EPP foam, which is considerably more durable than expanded polystyrene or Depron™. The wings are a true aerofoil section with huge ailerons cut into the aerofoil by the considerable bevel, which leaves a thin strip of EPP to act as the hinge.
