At the 2003 Paris Air Show, Honeywell announced that The Boeing Company, on behalf of the U.S. Air Force, had selected the company to develop and supply a next-generation weather radar for the C-17 fleet. The contract was valued at over $30 million. In July 2004, Honeywell announced that the radar was selected by Airbus as the standard radar for the A3 80. American Airlines chose the new radar for retrofit across its fleet of Boeing 757s, 767s, 737NGs, and 777s. The Honeywell radar can also equip regional jets, and the company hopes to win contracts to equip these aircraft in the future.
