摘要

The assessment of the risk of bone tumour induction from bone seeking radionuclides deposited in the skeleton is normally based on the calculation of doses to sensitive cells located within 10 μm of endosteal bone surfaces. Since the develop- ment of the ICRP dosimetric model for the skeleton further information has become available on the cells involved in the induction of radiation-induced bone tumours. Present evidence suggests multipotent and totipotent mesenchymal precursors located at a distance from the bone surface are the most likely target cells for the induction of bone tumours.
