The current economic crisis is affecting IT spending at many enterprises. When your top line (revenue) doesn't grow, what do you do? You work on the bottom line (cost). Any solution that reduces cost of operation will win. In that context, enterprise RIA takes a major role. Here I distinguish 'enterprise RIA' from the general RIA built with AJAX and Flash for animations, etc. Enterprise RIA, by itself, doesn't excite any CIO. But when you rephrase it to 'Application Modernization,' like switching from the antiquated client-server architecture to a Web-based architecture, enterprises get interested.
