Clarence Bernard Henry has been an Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Kansas and Assistant Professor of African and African American Studies at Indiana State University and has previously produced a work on Quincy Jones for this Routledge series. Now, Quincy Jones is a fine American musician, a record producer, actor, conductor, arranger, composer, television producer, film producer, instrumentalist, magazine founder and an entertainment company executive. But his influence on the development of jazz globally is slight compared with that of Miles Davis, who led the way for the trumpet through nearly 50 years of jazz and who still provides inspiration for many musicians some 25 years after his death.
