Human beings are, by nature, territorial creatures. Despite the efforts of statesmen, politicians and military conquerors, human unity has been frustrated by those seeking the fulfillment of unrequited national aspirations. With great interest in the quest by many for self-determination, Christopher F. Roth has produced Let's Split!, a reference work that is as compelling as it is useful. With nations usually defined by shared histories, languages, customs and artistic expressions that set them apart from each other, Roth explains that there could be hundreds - or even thousands - of nations in the world that do not possess their own internationally recognized states. Roth's book is about these "stateless" peoples who seek to become sovereign in their own right.
