Reference Reviews has reviewed so many of the Scarecrow Press/Rowman & Littlefield historical dictionaries over the years that it is quite surprising to note that we somehow missed the previous (1997) edition. This was very timely - Sri Lanka was then in the middle of a long drawn-out and bloody civil war which made it of topical interest in the West. The country is currently (at the time of writing) in a state of fragile peace, and there is so much unpleasantness going on in other parts of the world that readers in other countries can quite reasonably be expected to focus their attention elsewhere. I therefore cannot predict huge sales for this book.
