In this systematic presentation of Albert Einstein's work, the editors - Michael Janssen and Christopher Lehner, both past members of the editorial team of the Einstein Papers Project -provide 14 essays written by leading historians and philosophers of science. Most of the authors of the essays were also part of the Einstein Papers Project, which resulted in the monumental work, The Collected Papers of Albert Einstein, currently residing at 13 volumes. This work is part of the Cambridge Companions to Philosophy but is only the fourth title of the series that deviates from the focus on philosophers to cover a major scientist. Previously addressed scientists include Galileo, Newton and Darwin. The intent is to provide a comprehensive introduction to Einstein's work that is accessible to the general public.
