In this anticipated work, Geraldo Ceballos updates his previous Spanish edition of the book, Los Mamiferos Silvestres de Mexico (2006 Fondo de Cultura Economica), and creates an English language version. This is one of the few works covering terrestrial and marine mammals for the entire country of Mexico. The book is divided into two parts: an introductory section and species accounts. The introductory material consists of a synthesis of the biodiversity and conservation of mammals in Mexico, a brief overview of the authors and works that had the greatest development on the history of mammalogy in Mexico and a systematic list of mammals.
