Eating Disorders: An Encyclopedia of Causes, Treatments, and Prevention, reviewed here in its e-book version, includes roughly 175 entries arranged alphabetically. As the title suggests, entries address treatments and causes and prevention programmes, as well as multiple types of disorders. The entries range in length from 1 to 11 pages, though most run between 3 and 5 pages. While about half of the entries were written by 16 contributors representing a variety of disciplines with varying levels of experience, about half were written by the editor, Justine J. Reel (Assistant Professor, University of Utah, and a licensed professional counsellor). The entries are written in a very simple language, with multiple headings in each article giving a basic introduction to topics. Entries are cross-references and a bibliography of additional sources, usually of ten or fewer sources, but occasionally running longer, is included with each.
