Though not intended to be comprehensive in coverage, this delightful pocket guide is a must-read for anyone planning a trip to the Caribbean region, and extremely "thumb-able". Handy page-top color coding provides quick access to categories: Plants; Terrestrial Mammals (mainly bats and rodents); Birds; Terrestrial Reptiles; Amphibians; Freshwater Fish and Shrimp; Terrestrial Invertebrates; Marine Mammals; Marine Reptiles; Marine Fish (check out the wildly colored Fairy Basslet); Marine Plants and Invertebrates; and Seashells (Mollusks). While giving primarily photographs for plant life, the book supplies for animals, mostly illustrations, which are far more helpful in identification. Brief descriptions give Key Features (size, color and call), and Status and Range (endangered, threatened or common, where it lives, and how it reproduces).
