摘要

The Hogan Jazz Archive at Tulane University is a research centre focused on New Orleans jazz and related musical genres. It is also an internationally recognized force in the jazz history field, publishing Jazz Archivist newsletter and partnering, in the 1980s, with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival to produce the Hot Jazz Classic, a concert to recognize the achievements of New Orleans jazz pioneers. The Hogan Jazz Archive was created in 1958 through a Ford Foundation grant that also funded fieldwork to record the world's largest collection of oral jazz history - almost 2,000 reels - one of its core collections. Its website, reviewed here, provides access to and information about this unique repository's holding, links to digitized graphic materials, lists, indexes, guides, and finding aids to extensive collections of audio recordings, oral histories, manuscripts, photographs and other graphic content, from the late nineteenth century to the present day.
