In the USA in recent years, more and more people have been handling their own basic legal affairs, including writing contracts, drawing up wills, filing divorce papers, etc. In doing this, many of them seek out libraries for help. The Legal Reference for Librarians, written by librarian and attorney Paul D. Healey, is a guide for librarians and libraries serving patrons who need help locating information, data and official forms related to legal issues. Healey is an associate professor at the Albert E. Jenner, Jr. Law Library, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and has served as the editorial director of the AALL Spectrum, the official magazine of the American Association of Law Libraries. He has also been a featured speaker at conferences throughout the United States and Canada. The purpose of his book is to provide a "concise [82 pages] orientation on legal research", primarily for the purpose of helping patrons with their legal information requirements.
