I had thought that the day of the substantial printed subject bibliography might be over, killed off by online databases or abstracting services. But here are two volumes giving pretty compelling evidence that the printed version still has a role to play. This is, by any standards, a remarkably comprehensive, clear and very accessible piece of bibliography on a subject of increasing interest outside the world of specialist scholars. Apart from the scholarly world itself, collectors have shown increasing interest in Islamic art in many forms, those collectors whether individual or institutional and in museums and galleries of many types and sizes.
