The Editor has reminded me that I last reviewed A Dictionary of the European Union in 2003 (RR 2003/172). Over the last ten years, it has grown by 100 pages, but its principles remain the same. There are nearly 1,000 entries, ranging from short definitions of about 20 words to long descriptive articles (for instance, that on the Common Agricultural Policy) which may be as long as 5,000 words. These cover personalities (prominent politicians or EU officials); countries (inside or outside the EU); the union's governing bodies and other organizations linked, officially or unofficially, to it; political groups in the European Parliament; EU treaties and other important documents; famous legal cases; the most significant EU policies and procedures; and specialised technical terms including initialisms.
