The publication of this book on architectural heritage put me in mind of the recent revisions of Pevsner's Buildings of England, now renamed Pevsner Architectural Guides, so it was no surprise to find the author's introduction opening with a quote by a friend: "So, you are writing the Jewish Pevsner!" In fact, the friend's quote was aimed at the author's trawl around England researching her earlier magnum opus, Jewish Heritage in England: An Architectural Guide (Kadish, 2006), but she accepts the comment and, indeed, the present-day.
