The financial crisis, which began in late 2007 reverberated all around the world and we continue to feel its effects today. But what caused such a global financial crisis and why did no one foresee that is might happen? By the end of 2008, the USA was in the middle of a worse recession than that which followed the Wall Street Crash of 1929. Hence they refer to this period as the Great Recession. Rosenberg has compiled this encyclopaedia in the hope that it will "help readers to better understand the reasoning, motives, hidden agendas, and power plays of those who are responsible for this debacle and, most important, what the government has done to try and overcome it".
