AllMusic.com provides a wealth of free information on musical artists, albums and genres. Launched in 1995 by the creators of the print All Music Guide, this advertisement supported website claims to have database entries for over 2.2 million albums, 20 million tracks, and 81,000 biographies. A basic keyword search form is prominently displayed at the top of each page, allowing users to search by artist/group, album, song or classical work. An advanced search form, by which users might search by multiple fields, is not available however. Search results may be re-sorted by a number of fields, but cannot be filtered except by "popular music" or "classical music". Users may also browse by music genre from the header's menu, or use the Site Menu to browse by moods, instruments, themes, or countries, among other options. At the time of this review, the link to browse classical music was not working beyond displaying a short list of classical genres. One of the helpful links within this site menu is the New Releases link, which provides lists of upcoming album launches, organized by date and genre.
