H.W. Wilson's World Authors: 800 bc to Present database provides biographic information on over 10,000 authors throughout history. This database compiles the information found in the World Authors series, the print resource also by Wilson.rnWorld Authors uses the familiar Wilson interface although with different search limiters. As usual, the basic search is best used when the user knows exactly what he/she is looking for, but the advanced search offers many ways to locate author biographies when only scant details are known. Searches can be performed using birth or death date information, first or last name, professional area for which the author was known, e.g. short story writer, essayist, or translator to name a few, which are also sometimes referred to as "activities".
