Such a title as this needs explanation: "dictionary" and "theology" are clear enough, but why "global"? The preface helps here: the dictionary "was conceived to provide a general overview of theological reflection and practice throughout the world". "Global" reflects the globalisation, pluralism and cross-culturalism of contemporary theological debate and practice. In particular where we consider their context - increasingly Africa, Latin America and Asia, decreasingly Europe and even North America - and the settings within which religion, mission, church leadership, theological method, doctrinal discussion and liturgical practice take place.
