This book takes a look at the specific topic area of Geographic Information Science (or GI Science). The editors explain that science in this context concentrates on the underpinning methodologies and analytical approaches which are exploited in many Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software packages. The book is therefore not intended to be a GIS manual but a book which helps clarify the current state of knowledge to help educate and inform the next generation of geographic information scientists and practitioners.
