Thomson Gale's The Making of Modern Law is an online, digitized version of Primary Source Microfilm's Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Legal Treatises. The database, like its microfilm precursors, consists bf a massive collection of over 21,000 historic British and American legal treatises. In addition to traditional monographs, the collection includes speeches, letters and other obscure sources of legal interpretation and contains materials from peripheral disciplines like criminology, economics, and history. All works are available in their entirety, complete with illustrations and the full text of all tables, indexes, and finding aids. Based solely on the quality and quantity of the materials they contain, The Making of Modern Law and the microfilm sets from which it came are unmatched as sources for nineteenth and early twentieth century legal commentary.
