This reflective and arts-based inquiry explores the complexities within the Korean English teacher identity as revealed through postmodern arts-based negotiations. This study explores the transformative potential of a teacher's identity (self) in the context of teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). One teacher (referred to throughout the narrative as 'I') used letter writing as a means to investigate and reflect upon her teacher identity. In a letter to her professor she responded to other artists' quests for identity as depicted in their work. Her letter (re)builds understandings of her Korean English teacher identity. In this paper we demonstrate the potential of letter writing as a reflective and transformative tool for the Korean English language teacher.
