摘要

The 2008 Nobel Prize and the 2009 World Development Report have ushered economic geography into the spotlight of mainstream economics and the policy arena. This recognition is the culmination of a research process that has unfolded over the last three decades. Quite naturally, the output of this process has crystallized into a growing number of works, and it is fair to say that there is no dearth of good books in spatial economics and economic geography these days (e.g., Fujita et al., 1999; Fujita and Thisse, 2002; Baldwin et al., 2003; Brakman et al., 2009 to name but a few). Today, I am pleased to introduce the youngest member of this rapidly growing family, Economic Geography: The Integration of Regions and Nations by Pierre-Philippe Combes, Thierry Mayer and Jacques-Francois Thisse (CMT).
