摘要

Internet consumers in the U.S. are somewhat hypocritical when stating their views on commercial software piracy. While many of the respondents in a recent Business Software Alliance (BSA) study said software creators should be paid for their work, almost just as many have failed to pay for copies made of such software. The study, conducted for BSA by Ipsos Public Affairs, found that nearly half of about 1,000 U.S. Internet users have downloaded commercial software at some time, yet 81 percent of them have failed to pay for all the copies they made. Moreover, 57 percent of those who have downloaded software either seldom or never pay for the copyrighted works they download, with only 12 percent admitting that they have committed software piracy.
