The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers' (ICANN's) structure and decision-making processes drew increased heat from Congress this month, with the brunt of criticism coming from Sen. Conrad Burns (R., Mont.) and one of ICANN's own board members. Karl Auerbach, a longtime critic of ICANN and a recent addition to its board, said it is time for Congress to step in and give the organization a much-needed, top-to-bottom overhaul^ "ICANN is ill-designed, has been ill-operated, has brought upon itself ill-will within the Internet community, and has been greatly expanded in scope," Mr. Auerbach told the communications subcommittee of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
