摘要

This index is a compilation of the headnotes from all covered cases, arranged by classification number. To find the appropriate classification number, consult the Topical Index (p. 21), or the Classification Guide (p. 51). Within each classification number, headnotes are arranged by court, according to the following sequence: (1) U.S. Supreme Court; (2) Federal circuit courts, with the circuits listed in numerical order, preceded by the Federal Circuit and the District of Columbia Circuit. (3) U.S. district courts, listed in alphabetical order by state, and within each state by section of state, where applicable (Territories appear after all the states); (4) Other federal trial-level courts, such as the U.S. Claims Court, the Tax Court, and the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation; (5) State Courts, listed in alphabetical order by state, and within each state listed from the highest court to the lowest courts. Following each headnote are the case title, the abbreviation of the court and the date of decision in parentheses, and the beginning page number of the case. A list of abbreviations used in Environment Reporter-Cases begins on page 11.
