Its smallness is intended to be one of this book's attractions. In the introduction, Mr. Antti Hautamaki, Director of ,the book's sponsors, the Finnish Innovation Fund (SITRA), says: "The smaller the book, the greater the chance that it would appeal to a broad audience curious to learn (about China)".rnThe book is indeed compact at 172 pages. However, a potential reader might wonder how the editor plans to address in so few pages such an ambitious question: how will the development of the Chinese innovation environment challenge the leading-edge status of many Western innovation hubs, and what new perspectives are needed to compete and cooperate with Chinese universities and enterprises?
