Coca-Cola Recycling is dead (see the "At Press Time" section on the final page of this magazine for details), but who killed it? We can look at this like a classic television police procedural drama - we have a victim, but we don't have a perp and we don't have a murder weapon. Or do we? The autopsy - Coke Recycling really had two distinctly different charges - one, to be a market player buying used beverage containers (UBCs) and PET to both shore up the market and to assure control over the various material supply chains. The branch had buyers and sellers of those recyclable materials and, the company says, it no longer needed to engage that aspect of the business to make sure there are markets for those resources.
