I know, I know, I should have kept my mouth shut, particularly since it was the first time since the big fight from Christmas 2008, when I found myself calling balderdash on the assertion that Ted Kennedy helped elect Obama because he knew that Barack would be assassinated and Kennedy would then use that tragedy as the pretext to take away everyone's guns. This year, the fight was just as ludicrous, but this time I asked for the data to back up the assertions. You say that teachers are lousy and the country is more ignorant than ever? I say literacy rates have never been higher and the digital divide - the gap in access to information technology between those with money and those without - has never been narrower.
