The value of recovered non-ferrous scrap metal fell in the early fall as a consequence of continued investor uneasiness in the commodity markets, profit-taking by some market players who held large inventories and the decline of Chinese orders, where manufacturing output is weakening. Sims Recycling Solutions has expanded its electronics recovery business into mobile devices with the purchase of S3 Interactive Limited, a U.K. company that specializes in the recovery, repair and refurbishment of devices including smart phones and computer tablets. The Scotland-based S3 Interactive collects mobile devices that are data-wiped and refurbished before being sold globally. The company was founded in 2004 and will continue to be run by its owner Phillip Johnston.
